Catch the night train to Dong Hoi, ensconced in a 4 berth cabin with beds, and be picked up by our guide and transferred to a restaurant for breakfast. Enjoy a buffalo taxi ride and check in to your home-stay facilities before taking a kayak ride on the Chay River. Afterwards enjoy a small trek along some eco-trails, discover a little of the national Park before bedding down at your home-stay. The following morning transfer to Tu Lan for a safety and tour presentation. Trek through jungle to discover a cave, enjoy a picnic lunch and discover a waterfall. Trek back and enjoy your dinner under the stars and prepare for the following day. Next day is a day of cave discovering. First explore Hang Kim cave, only recently discovered, and the dry cave of Tu Lan and you will be impressed by the stalagmites and stalactites found in the cave, and have a small Trek. Move on to Dong Ha where you will spend the night.  In the morning travel to the DMZ and inspect some war era places and an incredible underground ‘village’ that protected locals during the war. Continue on to Hue, where our tour ends.

Chay Lap Village – river kayaking – trekking – Home-stay

  • Picked up from the train station and transferred to a local restaurant for breakfast.
  • Drive to Chay Lap Village
  • Arrive in Chay Lap and take a buffalo taxi and check in at your home-stay.
  • Kayak on the turquoise water of Chay River.
  • Trek along the Nuoc Mooc springs Eco trails.
  • Visit Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park
  • Overnight in your home-stay.

Tu Lan Caves – Overnight at the camp.

  • After breakfast say goodbye to your home-stay hosts and check out.
  • Transfer via the Ho Chi Minh Highway to the Tu Lan Headquarter camp for a safety briefing and tour presentation.
  • Time to get dirty! Trek through the jungle and visit Hung Ton Cave, To Mon Valley. Enjoy your picnic lunch at the waterfalls here.
  • Around 15:30 arrive at the campsite in front of Hang Ken cave. It is a fabulous place to take some photographs, and we will camp here for the night. If weather permits, enjoy some swimming in this paradise.
  • Enjoy dinner under the stars at Tu Lan, on the wonderful beach of the cave. Chat, drink and enjoy a bit of singing.

Tu Lan Caves –Dong Ha

  • Enjoy breakfast then explore Hang Kim cave, only discovered recently, with a waterfall and climbing fish. Visit the Tu Lan Dry cave and see the impressive stalagmites and stalactites forms of the caves.
  • Trek for approximately 3 hours before lunching in a local restaurant at Tan Hoa village.
  • Transfer to Dong Ha and stay there overnight.

Dong Ha – DMZ – Vinh Moc Tunnels – Lunch on the beach

  • Pick up from the hotel and journey to the old DMZ, the de-facto border between North and South Vietnam for 18 years.
  • Walk across the ‘Freedom Bridge’ across the Ben Hai River that was the only physical demarcation line between the two Vietnams.
  • Continue to Vinh Moc and explore the underground tunnel system that sheltered over 400 people during the American bombing operation “Rolling Thunder”.
  • Move on to Cua Tung beach for some lunch and relaxation time.
  • Transfer to Hue where we visit the ancient village of Phuoc Tich, where little has changed over the last 100 years. This modest peaceful village is a popular destination for those tourists visiting Hue.
  • Our tour ends in Hue.
